2. Quotations and Pricing
- Accuracy of Information: Quotes are provided based on the information supplied by the customer (weight, dimensions, commodity, and locations). J&D Logistics reserves the right to adjust final pricing if the actual shipment details differ from the initial request.
- Accessorial Charges: Additional fees may apply for services such as detention, lift-gate requirements, inside delivery (White Glove), or re-consignment.
- Validity: Quotes are typically valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated in writing.
3. Customer Obligations
The customer (shipper) is responsible for:
- Ensuring all cargo is properly packaged, crated, and labeled to withstand the rigors of transportation.
- Providing accurate descriptions of goods, including hazardous material declarations if applicable.
- Ensuring that the pickup and delivery locations are accessible for the equipment dispatched.
4. Cargo Liability and Insurance
- Standard Liability: J&D Logistics maintains motor carrier cargo insurance. Our liability for loss or damage is limited to the lesser of the actual value of the goods or the limits established by our current insurance policy, unless a higher value is declared in writing and an additional premium is paid prior to transit.
- Exclusions: We are not liable for loss or damage caused by improper packaging, inherent vice of the goods, or “Acts of God” (Force Majeure) such as extreme weather or natural disasters.
- Claims: All claims for loss or damage must be submitted in writing within the timeframe required by federal law (typically 9 months from the delivery date).
5. Payment Terms
- Invoicing: Invoices are issued upon delivery of the shipment.
